Happy International Day of Happiness! Mother’s Day! & Water Day!

Happy International Day of Happiness!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Many Blessings for World Water Day!

This week, we celebrate three important occasions:

The first is the UN International Day of Happiness (20 March). In July 2012, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution, which declared that the International Day of Happiness will be observed on 20 March every year. It was celebrated for the first time in 2013.

On this occasion, I wish you a very Happy International Day of Happiness, and would like to encourage you to start a new practice that will increase your happiness, like for example meditation. All kinds of meditations are very beneficial for our mental and physical health when practiced everyday.

One of my favorite meditations of all times is called Loving-kindness Meditation, which focuses on creating feelings of love and kindness towards yourself and others. It is very simple and takes only a few minutes. Here is how to do it:

  • Step one: Sit in a quiet place, in a comfortable position with straight back. Relax your body by taking a few deep breaths. Then think of someone you love; whether it’s a child or a spouse or even a pet; and try as much as you can and hold those loving feelings in your heart. As you are doing that, send them your love by saying the following phrases:

Loving-kindness 2

  • Step two: Let the person or pet you were thinking about slip away, and hold on to the positive feelings. Then take that warm, tender feeling and apply it to yourself, and say the following:

Loving-kindness 1

  • Step three: Continue to apply that loving feeling to others as well as to a larger groups of people, and also to those whom you might not feel that way about. Or if you prefer, you can keep it general and say the following:

Loving-kindness 3

You can do the steps, and say the phrases, in any order you like. The most important thing is to keep the positive emotions in your heart to benefit the most from practicing this meditation. Do this everyday for 30 days and see the difference.

The second occasion we celebrate this week is Mother’s Day (21 March). Take a moment to send your loving thoughts and wishes to Your Mother, to all the Mothers, to all the Women, and to our Mother Earth!

The third occasion we celebrate is World Water Day (22 March). Water is essential for Life; in fact Water is Life. More than 70% of your body is Water. Take a moment and Bless the Water. Say: Thank You Water; I Love You!  (Watch video below!)
